Superman A Legacy of Truth Justice and the American Way
So we have another little piece of info that kind of gives us insight into where exactly James Gunn and the DCU are taking Superman with Superman’s legacy. And surprise, surprise, Clarkant is going back to the Daily Planet.
So again, this is coming at us directly from the people working on the new DC universe and trying to explain where exactly in Clark’s life we’re going to see him.
They reveal that what they said before is true. We are jumping into the DC universe with Superman being our eyes into a universe that already exists. So for example, he’s going to be the Captain America for the Avengers.
People that never saw any of the MCU films that went to the Avengers and there was a lot they use Captain America as the sort of guy that doesn’t understand it and he’s just looking at things going, oh, yeah, okay, I get that reference. Oh, I get that. That was a smart way.
And that’s what they’re saying Superman is going to be. So adding on top of that saying that he’s fresh from school, he’s working at the Daily Planet, he’s very early in his career.
This sort of gives you an idea of what type of Superman we’re looking at. Confirming that he’s a reporter is another important piece here because it means Clark is still very much in that early part of his career where you can see how he’s going to be sent to investigate some sort of metahuman thing, right or something like that.
He goes from Smallville, and shows up in Metropolis, hey, there are villains around, right? There’s metahumans running around. Clark, get on the case. Clark can start to use his, well, journalism skills to try to piece together info on heroes, and villains, and then build up his own persona, who he is to grow up as Superman.

And certainly I think this is really smart to focus on this specific time. You want Clark in this to be unlike the DCEU version. So taking him all the way back, shoving him right there and putting a lot of emphasis on him being a reporter who’s just kind of being thrown into this world. We’re seeing the world through his eyes as he’s sort of getting into it. Fresh from a small little town into the big city is the Captain America comparison you need because it worked.
