Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors reveals MCU actors who influenced him to join the franchise
In an interview with the Deadline, Jonathan majors, aka Kang the conquer, talks a little bit about what fully convinced him to join the MCU.
And he specifically cites actors like Robert Downey Jr. Mark Ruffalo, tilda swinton, Tom Hiddleston, and multiple others as the ultimate push to join this franchise and see how far he can flex his acting.
So this comes at us directly again from Jonathan majors, and he says that if you look at the mcu, you essentially have one of the best drama schools in the world for grown-ups. He compares it to the likes of yale, for example, where he says, once you join the universe, you have a lot of people that are high up above you.
You have the dean who he says is Kevin Feige, and then you got the people that graduated from there whose names are well-known and world-renowned, from Robert Downey Jr. To Mark Ruffalo to countless other names. And he says, you join this, you know that you have to put on the best performance of your life. You have to stand toe to toe by them when being compared to the best actors in the MCU.
And if you drop the ball, you automatically look like you can’t hang with the best. And when you have actors like tilda swinton in there and Tom Hiddleston and so many others, how can you not want to be a part of that? But also, how can you not be afraid of that as well? Because these are some of the best well-known actors in the world right now who are the best after craft.
And he says that performances like the ones that Robert Downey Jr. Gave, from Iron Man One to The Avengers to Civil War to avengers endgame, are something that really pushed him to join the MCU when he didn’t know if he wanted to, because of the ability to reach so far into different performances and what you can deliver as the end result.
And obviously, he says that Kang is the ultimate version of this because you never know what you’re going to be getting with a different version of Kang each time. And he reveals that it was actually Marvel Studios who reached out to his agents first four years ago to try to get things in motion to get him to cast. And this was an ongoing conversation, and ultimately, seeing all the performances and everything was the conviction he needed. And he said at the moment he saw everything, he was like, I’m in.
